Flip On Your Health Switch

Mindset Switch

Do you have the “it is what it is” belief? Or, do you view life as an open book for which you can write your own destiny?

Your health is yours to choose. True, there are genetic links to certain health related conditions. However, you do not have to give in and wait for disability or death.

Are you willing to take the steps necessary to improve your health profile?

It all starts with your mindset. Which one of these two mindset types do you have?

Two Types Of Mindset

  1. Predetermined – You believe that your qualities are innate and unchangeable. In fact, you believe you have only a certain amount of intelligence, a certain personality, and a certain moral character; therefore, you have to prove that you have a healthy dose of them. Thereby, you try to validate your abilities because it simply wouldn’t do to look or feel deficient in these most basic characteristics. Those with this mindset view life as success or failure and these come based on your capabilities and “it is what it is.” They are in a high risk game of trying to keep up with the Joneses to validate their worth. It is win at all cost or they do not feel worthy.
  2. Growth- In this mindset, the hand you’re dealt is just the starting point for development. This growth mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way, in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments, everyone can change and grow through application and experience.

Obviously, change does not occur with a flip of a switch. It takes determination and focus on that change agent. And, there are days you will slip up. You just need to grab a hold of that goal and press on. To change your mindset to  growth, try these concepts.

Grow To Change

  1. Believe basic qualities can be developed.
  2. Understand failures happen and may hurt, but failures don’t define you. Be open to failure and learn from it because there are many paths to success.
  3. Stretch yourself to learn something new. Clearly, when you are trying to develop yourself you will grow.

In the end, you need to be open to growth and change. Allow greatness to inspire and drive you and do not let set backs end your transformation to your best health. Rise and shine, my fitness friends!
