What is Health in Today’s World?
We are very fortunate to have advance science and medical care. Hands down, there is no question about that. Yet, the challenge becomes when we only rely on that for our health. There are about 130 million hospital visits each year. Moreover, around 40% of people go to a hospital a year. Sadly, only 25% of Americans visit a fitness, gym, or exercise club.
Are we more concerned with “sick” care than true “health” care? History shows and tons of research back up that movement is key to our health. However, instead we let inactivity and poor diet kill us slowly with the hopes that modern medicine is our savior.
What you ask?
In the US about 600,000 people die each year from Cancer. Part of the reason this number is high is due to poor diet and physical inactivity.
Additionally, 1 person dies every 36 seconds from cardiovascular disease.
And, guess what? Being overweight or obese increases your chance of heart disease. This new body style we are now accepting is linked to unhealthy eating habits and low to no activity. Sure, there are different body types.
Yet, we have created a new category and have alter our genetics because of this.
So when it comes to our health, what is most important? The answer is plainly in front of us yet we seem to only seek out what is easiest.
During the COVID crisis the past 2 years, we have neglected to focus on peoples overall health and only have focused on the vaccination as the only means.
Now, we are allowing people to lear and cast judgement at those that are not vaccinated. In addition, we are treating this vaccine as the only means to health. Conversely, if someone says anything related to a body image, that is met with strong opposition. Do you see the hypocrisy in that?
We are dying in cause of our poor choices that lead to obesity, but let’s not deal with that. Instead, let’s hide that because dealing with the root cause of our bad health does not make sense. A staggering 42% of Americans are obese and will have health problems and weaker immune systems. If they are vaccinated, does that make them healthy? How about healthier? No, the answer is no. It makes them safer from death, sure. So, maybe instead of the attack on unvaccinated people, we should attack the health crisis of obesity.
We are not body shaming; we are just ashamed of the health of Americans. Are you ready to make a change? You have a choice in your health. And, rightly so, all Americans have freedom to choose what is best for their health.
Rise and shine, my fitness friends!
