Making Fitness Fun Again: The 6 Unique Ways For Leisure Time Pleasure

Leisure Time Fitness Fun

Our leisure time is being claimed more and more by our professions. Sadly, this time of freedom to do as we please and time unencumbered by need to be productive has become blurry and time dependent. Therefore, physical activity and exercise is falling out of the concept of leisure for many of us.

Are you ready to grab those reigns and regain control of your leisure time? Or, at least, let’s bring some fun back into your leisure time physical activity.

Is exercise fun or a chore for you? Look, the fitness industry is always trying to find clever ways to make exercise fun and enjoyable. Not to mention, it usually comes at a cost. So, why wait to see if that new gadget will do the trick for you. You can use these ideas to make your exercise session fun again.

  1. Invite a friend. Being able to share your exercise experiences with someone you enjoy can provide that extra enjoyment and motivation. Moreover, you could inject some fun into your workout routine with spontaneous competitions. For example, the first one to finish xyz gets a free green smoothie.
  2. Take a healthy picnic. This is a fun way to treat you after a day of activity in the sun. Additionally, you can try a new fruit/ vegetable, healthy take out restaurant, or recipe.
  3. Make it novel. Sometimes the best exercise experiences are the unique ones; the ones that no one else has thought of or is willing to try. For instance, go for a trail run as a fresh blanket of snow is falling. Or, take an evening bike ride with your brother on a dark trail without lights, any lights. These moments can be serene and tranquil, or exciting and adventurous. And, it is so great for your soul.
  4. Try something different. Look our jobs can be mundane and soul sucking enough. Please, do not let your exercise routine fall into that same rut. Do you feel like you are on the Truman Show or that is Ground Hog’s Day all over again? If so, it is time to call an exercise audible.

5. Make it a family affair. Go do a 5k race on Thanksgiving morning with your parents, spouse, and/or kids. Enjoy a Halloween bicycle event in full costume with your siblings.

6. Take a day. This may sound crazy to you workaholics. Yet, take a day off and make it all about health. Plan a trip somewhere for a bicycle adventure, go paddle boarding, or go to an indoor climbing or trampoline center. Even better, do multiple leisure time physical activities while you supplement them with wholesome healthful foods.

At the end of the day, the method you choose and use to add fun to your fitness is most important. But, you have to find the joy in it. Gadgets, toys, and gimmicks will only increase it briefly. Remember the activities that were pleasurable as a kid, and reintegrate that to your exercise plan or routine. You, once again, can find fun in fitness with a little thought and planning. Rise and shine, my fitness friends!
