‘Tis The Season or ‘Twas The Season?

tis the season

‘Twas the night before your new year’s resolution and all through the house your stomach was churning… We have all been there before. But, why must we chase misery with agony each year? They say failure is our best teacher. Yet, have you learned from your previous New Year Resolutions? Tis the season to make your health goals a priority and stick for years to come.

5 Things You Can Improve This Season

  1. Look to meet with ghosts from your past, present, and future. You first need to examine where you are currently and be brutally honest with yourself. Next, look at your past. Highlight the things you were doing well and understanding the things that challenged you and haunt you still to this day. Now, take a glimpse into your future with all the things you know and goals you hope to achieve. Imagine how good it feels to be in that place when you have accomplished that goal.
  2. Your path is all a glow. Yep, now that you have cleared your mind, you can focus in on your target. Your target is your primary goal. This goal should cause a burning desire. For more, check out this blog we wrote.
  3. Jingle all the way. Everyone needs some extra presents or rewards. Find something you want or somewhere you would like to go. Now, make that your reward for achieving what you set out to do.
  4. Build your snowman. When you build a snowman, you start with fresh snow. Once it is balled together, stacked, and giving some final touches, it becomes a great snowman or creation. The same goes for your healthful choices. If you start clumping them together, eventually, you will have a nice habit. As you refine those habits, your health and quality of life improve.
  5. Be like Charlie Brown and gang. Find someone that will alway have your back. If you need help, how about a Sweatbox Coach.

4 Things To Change From Last Year

  1. Words of the Grinch. Are you rationalizing your behaviors? Or, making excuses for your actions? It is time to bring the holiday cheer and come with a more optimistic approach.
  2. Having cookies with Santa at every stop. Of course, moderation is key. Yet, if you find you were at the Christmas cookie jar too often, try to find healthier versions of food or drink a nice big glass of water. And, stay away from that egg nog…yuck!
  3. Dining like Santa’s Reindeer. Unless you plan to fly, run, bike around the world in one night, you plates should not be the size of a Thanksgiving platter. Opt for a smaller plate. Or, try filling it with more veggies equalling half way full.
  4. Is your family like the Griswalds? If so, you may need something to help take the edge off. Did you say pass the holiday spirits? Just be thoughtful and limit your booze intake. Too many calories here can definitely mess up those holiday health goals.

Rise and shine, my fitness friends,
